wherever you are,
i hope it’s warm
or getting warm
or still warm.
but if it’s not,
here’s a beverage to keep the balance
of your core temp
while also doing things like
fighting inflammation.
for the time being
we’ve been drinking this warm
but i wonder how it’d be on ice,
or blitzed with ice.
yet another thing to look fwd to
as we move twds spring and summer.
my favorite about this drink though,
is the color.
bright, burnt yellow is sooooo my hue.
Ginger + Turmeric Latte
adapted from goop
makes 1 frothy cup
1 very generous tps of ground tumeric (fresh would be ideal)
1 tsp peeled and roughly chopped ginger
1 TBL honey/agave/simple syrup
2 tsp coconut oil
pinch sea salt
1 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk, though i’m sure cow milk would be fine too if you’re so inclined)
in a saucepan heat up the milk gently, until just barely simmering.
meanwhile, in a vitamix add the other ingredients and blend.
carefully pour the heated milk into the vitamix and blend until smooth and frothy.
BAM!

I’ve been driving a hot tea version of this all week. I didn’t realize almond milk would be a good substitute for the yogurt that I had put in originally. I just left it watery. This is probably much better. wonderful!!! Can’t wait to try it.
i hope you enjoy it amanda!
You know you can do this completely in the Vitamix right? Put that baby on HI and let it run until the mixture is warmed and steamy.
is it weird that i kinda baby the vitamix, i don’t want to over-work it and i feel that to reach that high of a heat for this latte would break the poor machine…
Pish-posh, that Vitamix is a work horse. There are soup and hot beverage recipes in the cookbook from the manufacturer. Baby thee no more…and save yourself a dish at clean up.
I love turmeric milk, and make it quite often during the winter; the only small difference with yours is I use extra spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom, and/or nutmeg as well. But plain is wonderful too, especially if you are lucky enough to get your hands on fresh turmeric! Beautiful pictures!
hmmm, i bet the addition of the spices just takes it over! will have to do that next time.
i have been wanting to make latte at home (earl grey to be more specific)…and now ginger turmeric variety..it sounds so therapeutic esp with steamed milk.
now that it’s warmer over by your parts, putting this on ice would be so refreshing!
